Sloop John B.

We come on the sloop John B., my grandfather and me,
around Nassau town we did roam..

Drinking all night, got into a fight (o yeah)
Well I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.

Refrein: So hoist up the John B. sail. (plus 2e stem)

See how the main-sail sets. (plus 2e stem)

Call for the captain ashore and let me go home. (let me go home)

I wanna go home, I wanna go home (o yeah)

Well I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.

The first mate he got drunk, he broke in the captain's trunk,
The constable had to come and take him away. (2e: take him away)
Sherrif John Stone, why don't you leave me alone. (o yeah)
Well I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.

Refrein

The captain's a wicked man, gets drunk every time he can,
He does not give a damn for pappy and me. (2e: pappy and me)
He kicks us around, gets us in a frown, (o yeah)
Well I feel so broke up, I wanna go home.

Refrein

The poor cook he got the fits, he threw away all my grits,
Then he went and ate up all of my corn. (2e: all of my corn)
I wanna go home, oh won't you let me go home, (o yeah)
This is the worst trip I've ever been on.

Refrein

(Laatste regel anders: This is the worst trip I've ever been on. )
